“Unfinished business with the sacred.” This cover took longer than expected—but it may have arrived at the exact time it was meant to.

Sacrificed Sons isn’t just another Dream Theater song.

It’s a powerful reflection on loss, grief, and the complex aftermath of September 11th.

For us, it became a vessel for something deeper—a tribute, a release, and in many ways, a ritual of completion.

🌍 A Global Collaboration

This marks our 11th Dream Theater Split-Screen Cover, and it brought together musicians from Brazil, Greece, and Italy:

  • 🎙️ Ilias Michailakis (Vocals – Greece)

  • 🎹 Ignazio “Iggy” Verzicco (Keyboards – Italy)

  • 🎸 Thiago Campos (Guitars – Brazil)

  • 🎸 Dario Di Francesco (Bass – Italy)

  • 🥁 Paulinho (Drums – Brazil — recorded in 2010)

🕰️ Drums Tracked in 2010 – Archived Until Now

Paulinho’s drum take was recorded 15 years ago, during the same session as our Constant Motion Split-Screen Cover. It’s been sitting quietly on my old hard drive ever since, waiting to find its place.

This cover became that place.

⏳ Delays, Distractions… and a Return

We originally hoped to release this on September 11th last year, but as life ramped up—other projects, my course platform, the Jaws of Life release with Rod (Progified), and more—it kept getting pushed back.

And yet, the I Ching (which I study and respect greatly) had something to say about that delay. It described a wall finally breaking, a narrow path opening, and the importance of moving through it with care, or risk being delayed again.

That path was this week—and I took it.

🙏 Thank You

To my fellow musicians—I thank you for your patience, trust, and artistry.

To those who watch—thank you for being part of this release, for remembering the meaning behind it, and for celebrating this moment with us.

This is more than a cover. It’s a bridge across time, continents, and souls.
